How to add Urdu captions to a video

Updated 6 October 2026

Upload the video to CaptionOS and choose اردو (Urdu). The speech is transcribed in Urdu script with a time for every word, and the captions are laid out right to left in typefaces made for Urdu. Style them, fix any word, then export an MP4 with the captions burned in, or an SRT file on paid plans.

Step by step

  1. Create a free account and start a New project with your video.
  2. In the editor, choose اردو in the language buttons.
  3. Pick a caption style; each has an Urdu typeface, and the words animate right to left.
  4. Check the transcript and correct any word.
  5. Export the MP4, or download SRT or VTT on a paid plan.

Urdu, Hindi or Hinglish?

Spoken Hindi and Urdu share much of their everyday vocabulary; the difference on screen is the script. Choose Urdu script for an audience that reads it, Devanagari for Hindi readers, or Hinglish (Roman letters) for a mixed audience. See Hinglish or Hindi captions for how to decide.

Tips for readable Urdu captions

  • Give Urdu text a little more size than Latin text: its letters are more detailed.
  • Use an outline or background panel on busy footage.
  • Keep to short phrases so each line fits comfortably.

What it costs

The Free plan includes 2 minutes of transcription a month and exports up to 2 minutes long at 1080p with a small watermark; paid plans start at ₹49 a week (Weekly) and remove the watermark. See pricing.

Questions

Are Urdu captions shown right to left?

Yes. Urdu captions are laid out right to left, and the word highlight moves in reading order.

Can the same video have Urdu and Hinglish versions?

Yes. Switch the language and the video is transcribed again; export each version separately. Each transcription uses minutes from your plan.
